Eric the Dragon's 60 Minute Makeover Day

Well, the day arrived when I decided that the climbing frame had cured enough and that Eric would have been happy have his area extended to 4 foot, so Eric was given a little perch in a warm tank overlooking the makeover.

After putting it all together, a few observations and Eric's own size soon demostrated that this might not be the right way to go, lol, alot of effort eh, but as you can see, I made it so big, it fitted into the tank with mm's to spare, but light and viewing areas where restricted so much that I soon became unhappy with the design, ( good intentions and jumped the gun a little I think on this one, lol).
So, a last minute redign saw a change of heart and in the end, we cam up with this layout with a large area on the ground for Eric to run and chase his food, which I might add he loves doing with no worries. So for the time being this is the new look for Eric's home.

This week also saw another skin shedding for Eric, as seen in these photo's, and you get a glimpse of his great colours under the older skin.

He is eating great, and he seems really happy. So I'm very pleased with him.

Eric gets to play on his new climbing frame!

I have'nt installed this into the viv yet, but whilst holding him this morning I decided to let him have a look around it, he was a little shy of going for a walk around it, but he did eat a mealworm from it, I placed it near him and he ate, so it cant have bother'd him much.
Just monitoring him at the mo, I'm thinking he might be starting a skin shed, which might explain his slightly reduced appitite at the moment.

Eric The Dragon - Settled in nicely.

Just a quick update, Eric is doing awesomely, eating very well, live and greens. Climbing frame is curing well, so that should be installed over the next couple of days.

He has managed to find a way up on to the wires, found him asleep up there yesterday morning.

He seems very happy and is coming to the glass asking for food now, so I'm very pleased.

The temps in the viv are settling down now, took a little while to find the right balance, hot spot is a max 42'c, top part of viv is at a max of 37'c with the cooler part of viv at 29'c, dropping the high temp down to about 23-24'c at night. He seems happy with this.
I'm going to try and find some Dubia Roaches for him today I think. Also he is a little veg, not a huge amount but enough for me to want to keep putting some in for him every day.
Pic on left is from yesterday, but the right is this morning after chasing crix and locusts around the viv for 10mins.
More to come soon.

Eric the Dragon - First Day

OK, so Eric the Dragon (Bearded Dragon) has arrived home today, picked him up from Karen and Kim from KK Chameleons in Birmingham, so many thanks to both Kim for bringing him down and many thanks to Karen for all the great advice and help.

The orginal idea was to have a 48" viv ready for him with a home made climbing frame with levels etc, but the final coats for acrylic are still curing and so giving off fumes, so no new furniture for him today, but he has some great drift wood and large stones to sun himself on.

He has already eaten 5 Locusts, Curly kale greens, eating some of the Kale out of my fingers which I'm really pleased about.

He is very alert, not skittish at all, always watching whats going on around him, so first signs point towards a great happy dragon, he is currently exploring his tank, climbing the fake green stuff, looks like he might be an escape expert.

So Eric is off to a great start.
